If you have any doubts about your image, use a photo-viewing program to zoom in to your image to 200% and see how the image looks. This is a useful test for *any* image and you should definitely do the 200% test on any image you converted from another source, like a PDF or Word document, or any image that was scanned.

14/06/2016 · They look great (not pixelated or blurry) when I import them into powerpoint or publisher. However when I publish these files to pdf the pictures look terrible and blurry. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how I can produce pngs that will yield good quality images.
6/12/2012 · Our logo appears very crisp and clean on screen, but when exported to pdf, it is blurry. Not just a little blurry, but very. Not just a little blurry, but very. I have tried several different formats for the image – jpg, gif, tiff, bmp – all with the same result.
When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I’ve changed my display settings to HIGH) – I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.

The problem is that when I use an ESRI basemap as my backdrop, it looks fine in my MXD but when I export the map to PDF, JPG, or whatever format, the quality of the basemap in the export file is a lot worse than what I see on-screen in ArcGIS. Here’s the most recent, egregious example:

16/08/2017 · In Photoshop I would create the document in the required dimension, create the image, and the export would look clear and crisp (exactly the way it looks while creating it). When I try to do this in Affinity it’s always blurry. The image generally looks great within the application, but as soon as you export it the loss of quality is striking.

Exporting psd to pdf makes half the content ‘blurry is to flatten the image first, so the whole thing remains an image on export (so you might as well save as JPEG).
